Running Live Game Sessions
Host real-time competitive sessions where students join with a code.
Live sessions are where Wittigo comes alive. A live session turns any saved game into a real-time classroom competition. Students join with a simple 6-digit code — no accounts, no passwords, no setup time. Within two minutes, your entire class can be playing.
Launching a Session
- Open any saved game and click "Host Live" to create a new session. A unique 6-digit join code is generated.
- Share the join code with students. They visit the join page, enter the code, choose or type their name, and enter the lobby.
- If the session is connected to a classroom roster, students may also be asked for their two-icon passphrase before they can join as that student.
- In the teacher lobby, you can see all connected students. Assign them to teams manually or let the system auto-balance.
- Start the game when all students are ready. You control the pace — reveal questions, show answers, and manage scoring.
- After the game, review the session summary with scores, team rankings, and performance insights.
Student Passphrases During Live Games
For roster-based classes, passphrases help make sure each student joins as themselves. The join code still gets the class into the session, but the icon passphrase confirms the selected student name before scores, XP, coins, and progress are attached to that profile.
- Before class, open Engagement, choose the classroom, and make sure each student has a passphrase card.
- Students enter the same 6-digit join code as usual, then choose their name from the roster.
- If prompted, students select their first secret icon and then their second secret icon in the same order shown on their card.
- If a student forgets their icons, open the student menu in Engagement to view the card or generate a new passphrase.
The Teacher Lobby
The lobby is your pre-game command center. You can see who has joined, remove accidental entries, and organize teams. Auto-balance evenly distributes students across teams, or you can drag and drop to create strategic groupings. You can also lock the lobby once everyone is in to prevent late joiners.
