Creating & Managing Classrooms

Organise students into virtual classrooms to track engagement and award rewards.

Classrooms are the organizational heart of student engagement in Wittigo. A classroom is a virtual space where you add students, track their participation, manage leaderboards, and award coins and XP. You can create as many classrooms as you need — one for each period, subject, or after-school club.

Setting Up a Classroom

  1. Navigate to "Engagement" in the sidebar. Click "Create Classroom" and give it a name (e.g., "Year 8 Science — Period 3").
  2. Add students manually by entering their names, or import them in bulk from a list. No student email or account is required.
  3. You can also import your entire class list from Google Classroom if you have connected your Google account (see the Google Classroom Integration guide).
  4. Each classroom has its own leaderboard showing student XP, coins, and current avatars.
  5. Manage multiple classrooms from the same Engagement dashboard. Switch between them using the classroom selector.
  6. Delete or archive classrooms at the end of a school year. Student progress within a classroom is retained until you delete it.

Why Classrooms Matter

Without classrooms, student participation in games is anonymous. Classrooms let you attach names to scores, track growth over time, and build a sense of community. The gamification system — XP, coins, avatars, and leaderboards — only activates when students are part of a classroom. It transforms Wittigo from a fun activity into a structured learning tool.
